The Algiers

Blending a storied past with bold, globally inspired flavours, The Algiers is a one-of-a-kind gastro pub in the heart of Baltimore village. As the only pub in West Cork serving craft cocktails, it brings a fresh twist to the local dining scene. The menu showcases the best of West Cork produce, infused with influences from Mexico, California, and Asia. House favourites include Roaring Water Bay mussels in harissa broth, Union Hall smoked haddock chowder, tacos, and chicken taquitos.
Its garden terrace is one of West Cork’s best-kept secrets. Known for its laid-back charm and sunshine-friendly setup, it offers a sun-kissed escape with subtle North African-inspired design touches - the perfect spot to sip a craft cocktail or local beer in the fresh sea air.
The Algiers is also home to the legendary Algiers Disco - a lively open-air dance party under the stars that draws a crowd of all ages.
Nestled in the shadow of Dún Na Séad Castle, The Algiers has stood on this historic site for over 130 years. Before the pub was established by Beamish and Crawford Brewery in 1892, the area was a haven for smugglers and pirates, with local legend telling of an illicit síbín disguised as a bakery and shop. The pub’s name nods to the infamous 1631 Sack of Baltimore, when Barbary pirates raided the village and abducted over 100 people.
With its warm, North African-inspired interiors, rich textures, ambient lighting, and subtle maritime touches, The Algiers is a must-visit destination for food lovers, cocktail enthusiasts, and history buffs alike.
