Adrigole

Adrigole Harbour, nestled on the Beara Peninsula in County Cork, offers a serene setting for kayaking enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. This sheltered inlet, surrounded by the rugged Caha Mountains, provides calm waters ideal for paddling. The harbour is home to a colony of 30 to 40 harbour seals, which can often be seen lounging on nearby rocks or swimming gracefully in the water.

At the heart of this adventure is Kayak with the Seals, a guided kayaking and canoeing initiative operated by the West Cork Sailing Centre. Located at Adrigole Pier, the centre offers a range of vessels to suit all ages and abilities, including single, double, and triple sit-on-top kayaks, as well as Canadian canoes. Whether you're a solo adventurer, a couple, or a family, there's a boat tailored for your needs. No prior kayaking experience is necessary, making it accessible for beginners and families with young children. Safety is a top priority, with buoyancy aids provided and staff available to offer guidance on paddling techniques and launching procedures. Wetsuits are also available for rent to ensure comfort during your paddle.

You can choose to rent your kayak for one to two hours, allowing ample time to explore the tranquil waters and observe the local wildlife. As you glide through the harbour, you may encounter not only seals but also a variety of seabirds, including sea terns and oystercatchers. The nearby Orthorn Island serves as a sanctuary for these nesting birds, adding to the area's rich biodiversity.

Whether you're seeking a peaceful escape into nature or an up-close encounter with marine life, kayaking in Adrigole Harbour with Kayak with the Seals offers a memorable and enriching experience.
