Escape on a journey at The Ewe Experience in Glengarriff. It is thought provoking but at the same time relaxing.

This award winning garden has been 29 years in the making. It is a unique creative treat – a wonderful escape for a day out that has been thoughtfully designed for all ages.

Art and nature compliment each other in Ireland’s only interactive sculpture garden. It is the private home of artist Sheena Wood and Kurt Lyndorff, but is open to visitors in the summer.

The Ewe Experience includes a great educational science walk and a poetry trail, intriguing sculptures and mysteries to solve. Over 200 educational boards with information and illustrations about the environment, plants, animals and natural & human history guide visitors through the extraordinary gardens. The interactive sculptures include life’s treadmill, which visitors can spin, and an intriguing glass magnifying wall, which distorts the faces of visitors into monsters, or another reflector where visitors get a unique perspective on themselves.

Schools, families and individuals of all ages can enjoy the one kilometre walk through four gardens, dotted with mind challenging games, creative areas and story boards for a relaxing learning experience like no other. The four separate gardens of around five acres are set along a waterfall, that cuts its way down the Esk mountain valley into the glen of Glengarriff.

In Falling Water Garden a vain emu, a sun bathing rhino and other humorous sculptures emerge amongst grasses and bamboo. Bridges lead you across the waterfall to new discoveries in the Timeless Glen, a shady forest clearing with more sculptural surprises. Follow the Yarn Spinner’s trail of playful poetry or simply enjoy the sights and sounds of nature. Meander up into the Environmental Forest, where all the sculptures are made from re-cycled materials. For story lovers information on plants, animals, natural history and the environment give food for thought along the way. The journey continues high up into Valley of Eden with spectacular views to the mountains and sea. Follow Evolution Walk which tells the story of Earth from bacteria and dinosaurs to humans, and gives you a chance to meet your ancestors. Or come face to face with the most destructive animal ever.

Welcome to Glengarriff Bamboo Park! This unique exotic garden is located in one of the most attractive areas in Ireland. Situated in the mild climate of Glengarriff, the park has thirty different species of bamboo surrounded by palms and other tropical plants, amidst romantic paths and breathtaking views.

Children can enter for free! Dogs also welcome.

Blue Pool Ferry operates a Garinish Island shuttle – departing twice-hourly every day from the Blue Pool dock and touring Glengarriff Harbour past Seal Island, Eagle Point before docking at Garinish Island.
